E. Earle Zehmer Appellate Practice Seminar: Practicing Before the First
This seminar will focus on practicing in the First District Court of Appeal. It will include a presentation from the clerk that will include in-depth discussions about the court’s use of technology and how it is on the cutting edge of all appellate courts in this regard. The presentation will discuss workers compensation appeals, civil appeals, criminal appeals, family law appeals, and administrative law appeals.

Navigating Criminal Appellate Practice
This seminar is designed to address issues facing practitioners with clients in different stages of appellate practice concerning criminal cases. The Clerk of the Florida Supreme Court will address the status of new requirements of e-filing in the trial and appellate courts under the “e-portal” system. That lecture will segue into a discussion of ethical considerations of media coverage and the impact of the internet in criminal cases. Other topics include: Equitable Tolling as a means for relief when habeas corpus deadlines are not met; A History of Executions in Miami-Dade County, Florida; Extraordinary Writs; Immigration and Criminal Defense in a Post-Padilla World; and Do’s and Don’ts of Appellate Practice from County to Circuit Courts and Briefing your Statement of Facts.

Practice in the Second District Court of Appeal: An In-Depth Look
This unique program will help you "meet the court and the clerk" and will include topics such as the nuts and bolts of Second District Practice, Motion Practice, Tailoring Your Brief for the Second District, Effective Oral Arguments, Constructive Criticism From The Bench, Handling Pro Se Opponents and professionalism. Practicing Before the Supreme Court
This seminar offers a unique opportunity for attorneys to interact with the Justices of the Florida Supreme Court. You will first listen to an Oral Argument followed by a discussion with the arguing attorney moderated by Solicitor General Scott Makar. Don't wait to register as space is limited.
